There was a reason Cerberus had been so unusually cooperative and docile, and that was to lose the muzzle. Then all he had to do was chew through the lead, and now he was free. Free to finally put an end to the pathetic man who tied him down and shamed him with the muzzle. He sank his teeth into David’s shoulder, hearing a scream of surprise and pain and savored the tinge of blood he smelled through the thick fabric of the jacket the man wore. Wrenching his head from side to side he drew out another scream, and felt a hand clawing at his face, trying to pry it loose. He had himself a vice-like grip though, and refused to let go, gripping ever tighter with every tug from David’s hand.

The hand moved to his horn and tried wrenching him off with that, and feeling irritated he lifted a paw and shoved it at his face, hearing the glass of the cockpit window crack and the man’s struggles suddenly cease. He was about to add fire to his attack when suddenly the whole plane lurched and he lost his footing, forced to let go as he was thrown sideways and was filled with the alarming sense of falling. His feet were still planted on the floor of the cockpit though which filled him with confusion. Was it an earthquake? Was the ground he was standing on about to collapse? He had nowhere to run, nowhere to escape. Instinct was screaming at him to get back to solid ground, to stop falling but there was nothing he could do.

With a furious growl he realized that this was the man’s doing, and when he turned back to unleash more of his wrath he was alarmed at the sight of the ground rushing up to meet them. He was falling. He was falling and there was nothing he could do.

The plane met the ground with a sickening crunch of metal and screaming propellers. Glass grew spider webs of cracks in seconds and shattered in places, metal folded in on itself and groaned in agony, and one of the wings was broken violently off when a tree stood in the path that the wreckage was blazing. The battered husk of the plane came to a grating stop and was deathly silent. Behind it a few small fires burned and pieces of metal were scattered haphazardly all across the ground. A deep rut had been carved in the ground, and a few trees were stripped of their bark in areas.

Within the broken cockpit David was limp in his seat, head lolled forward with blood already matting his hair and pooling at his feet.
