They had been scouring the Sobek shoreline for hours with no luck. No flash of glowing light, not the slightest hint of an orb anywhere in sight. She had even ridden Bruno out on the wild surf to check if any were out in deeper waters but still nothing. It wasn’t until she had nearly given up and decided to move on when a bugled honking in the distance caught her attention. A quick observation of her surroundings revealed her Snow White bird far down the coastline where the rocks evened out a bit and pooled with water.

The Rock Pools. Why hadn’t she thought of that earlier? After trekking all the way back across the rocky shore she climbed up the rocks and was instantly greeted with the sight of a gleaming blue orb winking up at her from the bottom of one of the deepest rock pools. Of course, the deepest one.

“Looks like it’s time to go diving again Bruno,” she said to the large beast as he came lumbering up the rocks behind her. A hiss and a sudden splash caused her to face the pool again, seeing only the surface rippling. She was on her knees at the side of the pool in an instant and Bruno was thrusting his head into the water, but the sight they both saw was not one to cause alarm so they waited.

Below them Snow was gracefully winging her way down to the orb, and scooped it up in her beak as fish darted to safety all around her. White feathers shining in the reflected light she arched her neck back toward the surface and pushed off the bottom with her black webbed feet. Breaching the surface she made sure to pose regally with the orb flashing brilliantly in her beak before tossing it irately at Selina before fluffing up all her feathers indignantly.

“Ah, yes. Sorry about that Snow. You found it first, so you get to fetch it. I just didn’t think you’d have wanted to get salt water all over your feathers. You’ll be preening for weeks now,” Selina smiled innocently and after a moment of contemplating what she had just said Snow managed to fluff her feathers up even more and give the girl one last hiss before jumping out of the water to begin her preening.
