Viperfang was seething. The anger had boiled into his chest at the first sound of Kindlestar’s cry to begin the gathering. He had spent countless hours arguing with Kindlestar- demanding she pick a different mentor for the outsider kit but his leader’s decision stood firm. He was to mentor Gwyn. In a weak attempt to control his anger his claws unsheathed and sunk into the hard dirt floor of the camp, yellow eyes boring up at Kindlestar as she announced the clan’s new medicine cat, and new warriors.

He felt no jubilation for any of them- though he out to have. Then Kindlestar turned to the kit and called her forward. Viperfang braced himself to be called upon and tried his best not to look like he was swallowing a fish. This was his first apprentice and he was stuck with the softling outsider. It was worse than a slap to the face by a MoonClan kit.

When his name was called he reluctantly stepped forward, meeting Kindlestar’s eyes and seeing a warning flash in them. He knew better than to argue with her now, and dipped his head respectfully. Turning his scrutinizing gaze away he met the double color eyes of the small white apprentice, trying, and failing, to tone down his glare. He stepped forward, looming over her for a moment, which was an impressive feat given that he wasn’t know for his height, and bent down to touch noses with her as tradition demanded.
